Khumbu & Everest Three High Passes is least trekked around the second busiest trekking destination after Annapurna region, one of the most unique journeys leading from mediterranean of mid hills to arctic landscapes and climate zone, all these drastic change in temperature found only in the high valleys and mountains of Khumbu area with dramatic change in vegetations and its awesome scenery.
This trek leads through many traditional Sherpa villages famous as mountaineers and warm hospitality and has been a high altitude porters and guides since last five decades.
This remarkable trek starts from Lukla the gateway to Everest area and then over to famous Namche Bazaar at 3,440 meters and then with rest day for proper acclimatization and then heading higher to Imjatse valley through the scenic spot to Gokyo Lake and tremendous views from Gokyo Ri at 5, 330 m overlooking four top world’s highest peaks from Everest, Lhotse, Makalu to Cho -Oyu then over the high Tsho – la ( cho-la) to reach our destination at world’s highest Mountain base camp at 5, 364 meters and then climb up to Kalapathar the highest point of this trek at 5,545 meters and slowly with a scenic walk ending this beautiful and awesome trekking at scenic valley at Lukla for the scenic sweeping short flight back to Kathmandu for your international flight after a memorable time with Solukhumbu Treks & Expedition to Khumbu & Everest Three High Passes.
Day 01:          Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:          Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs.
Day 03:          Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.
Day 04:          Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 05:          Trek to Thame 3,800 m - 05 hours.
Day 06:          Trek to Marlung 4,137m - 05 hours.
Day 07:          Trek to Lungdeng 4, 600m - 04 hours.
Day 08:          Cross Renjo- La 5,465m and trek to Gokyo Lake 4,800 m - 07 hrs.
Day 09:          Rest day at Gokyo Lake preparation for Tsho - la pass.
Day 10:          Hike to Gokyo Ri 5,330 m and trek to Thagnag 4,750 m - 04 hrs.
Day 11:          Cross Tsho - la Pass 5,367 m and to Dzongla 4,850m - 07 hrs.
Day 12:          Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs.
Day 13:          Trek to Gorak Shep 5,170 m and to Everest Base Camp 5,364 m. 
Day 14:          Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m and trek to Lobuche - 04 hrs.  
Day 15:          Cross Kongma La 5,535m and to Dingboche 4,340m - 07 hrs.
Day 16:          Trek to Thyangboche 3,867m - 05 hrs.
Day 17:          Trek to Monjo 2,860m - 06 hrs.
Day 18:          Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.
Day 19:          Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Day 20:          In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.
Day 21:          International departure for home ward bound.


LOCATION:  Sagarmatha National Park is located to the Northeast of Kathmandu in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The park includes the highest peak in the world,
Mt.Sagarmatha (Everest), and several other well-known peaks such as Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyo, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Thermasarkhu, Kwangde, Khangtiaga and Gyachung Kang. The park was added to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1979.
FEATURES: The Mountains of Sagarmatha National Park are geologically young and broken up by deep gorges and glacial valleys. Vegetation includes pine and hemlock forests at lower altitudes, fir, juniper, birch and rhododendron woods, scrub and alpine plant communities, and bare rock and snow.
The famed bloom of rhododendrons occurs during spring (April and May) although other flora is mostly colorful during the monsoon season (June to August)
Wild animals most likely to be seen in the park are the Himalayan thar, ghoral, serow and musk deer. The snow leopard and Himalayan black bear are present but rarely sighted. Other mammals rarely seen are the weasel, marten, Himalayan mouse hare (pika), jackal and languor monkey.
The park is populated by approximately 3,000 of the famed Sherpa people whose lives are interwoven with the teaching of Buddhism. The main settlements are Namche Bazaar, Khumjung, Khunde, Thame, Thyangboche, Pangboche and Phortse. The economy of the Khumbu Sherpa community has traditionally been heavily based on trade and livestock herding.
But with the coming of international mountaineering expeditions since 1950 and the influx of foreign trekkers, the Sherpa economy today is becoming increasingly dependent on tourism.

Day 01:          Meet in Kathmandu after arrival from international flight.
Rendezvous in Kathmandu where you will be joined with other members of the trekking team on reaching respective hotels, our guide or group leader will brief information regarding your trekking with do’s and don’ts.
Day 02:          Fly to Lukla 2,886m & trek to Phakding 2,640m - 04 hrs
Morning transfer to domestic airport for a sweeping scenic flight of 30 minutes to Lukla, Lukla airport at present known as Tenzing –Hillary Airport.
After a time here for a while then start the walk to Phakding for overnight stop, the trek passes several villages and farm lands with great scenery of hills and valleys then finally reaching at Phakding village located by the Dudh Kosi (river)
Day 03:          Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.
Today’s morning walk leads to the bank of Dudh Koshi, then crossing bridges to reach the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo. After checking the Park & Trekking tickets and permits, further walk leads on the bank of the river, then after the last high bridge an uphill walk for few hours all the way to Namche Bazaar, here we will have two nights in this large prosperous trading town –village as well the main centre and capital of Khumbu area with facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with a busy colorful
Saturday market.
Day 04:          Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization.
Namche an ideal place for acclimatization, this rest day one can relax or take a short hike up to the park museum which houses great range of information from mountaineering, flora – fauna and Sherpa culture and religions, from this spot offers grand panorama of high snow capped mountains including Mt. Everest and stunning peak Ama Dablam, with time here an optional walk up to Everest View Hotel for another beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
Day 05:          Trek to Thame 3,880m - 04 hours.
A good day walk with pleasant trail through enchanting forest of rhododendron, oaks and pines trees, then passing small farm villages following the Bhote Koshi River upstream and to Thamo village with a small hydro project that supplies hydro electricity to most of Khumbu area, from this village continue walk then reaching a small bridge, with beautiful Bhuddhist Rock Wall Paintings on the rocky wall, from the bridge walk for another 45 minutes to Thame a nice sleepy village seldom frequented by trekkers. This village is the birthplace of Tenzing Norgay (one of the first person to climb over Mt. Everest) and of Apa Sherpa a record holder climbing 20th time on top of Mt. Everest. Thame village has one of the oldest monasteries of this region.
Day 06:          Trek to Marlung 4,137 m - 04 hours.
Morning with time visiting the Thame monastery then our journey begins towards the first pass of this high adventure, walk follows the path to Marlung village with Bhote Koshi River up streams, on route visiting villages of Thyangmoche and Hungmo, and then walk through complete wilderness with only few houses, huts and Sheppard’s pasture land, onwards walk leads to area with less vegetation on the way towards arctic like zone, finally the day walk reaches our overnight stop at Marlung after passing the village of Taranga, through yak field.
Day 07:          Trek to Lungdeng 4,600 m - 04 hours.
Journey continues with a morning walk to Lungden through old and authentic Himalayan villages blending well in this natural surrounding landscape; this is the old salt trade route between Nepal and Tibet, after leaving the route to Tibet trail heading north east, then walk for few hours to our overnight stop at Lungdeng a small village with fantastic panorama of surrounding high snow mountains.
Day 08:          Trek to Renjo- La 5,465 m descends to Gokyo 4,800 m - 07 hrs.
From Lungden a Big Day! To cross the first high pass of this adventure, walk follows leading to frozen ponds beneath Renjo La pass, the route to the pass offers marvelous views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse and Taboche, and then crossing Renjo La pass at 5,465 m / 17,929 ft, one of the most difficult section of this adventure, on reaching the top with breathtaking panorama of Mt. Cho-Oyu and other high surrounding peaks, after enjoying the views, descend to reach the Gokyo valley for overnight stop in the comfort of a nice lodge overlooking Gokyo simmering emerald glacial lake.
Day 09:          Rest day at Gokyo Lake.
A rest day which allows you to acclimatize better in this high altitude, with time to explore the surrounding area of this valley with stunning scenery of the first and the second lake of Gokyo.
Day 10:          Hike to Gokyo Ri at 5,330 m trek to Thangnag 4,750 m - 04 hrs.
Early morning to catch the sunrise over the tall snow capped mountains at Gokyo Ri at 5,357 m one of the highest point of this wonderful trek, after a steep hard climb to the top with awesome panorama views of world’s highest mountains from Mt. Cho Oyo 8,201 m, straddling the border with Tibet along with Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest 8,848 m world’s number one, then worlds fourth highest
Mt. Lhotse 8,516 m, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east worlds 05th highest
Mt. Makalu at 8,463 m. After a great time at the top Gokyo Ri a steep downhill walk to Gokyo and then continue few hours journey trek to Thangnag walking along the glacier moraines to reach the small settlement of Thangnag  for overnight stop.
Day 11:          Cross Tshso-la 5,367m / 17,604 f and to Dzongla 4,850 m - 07 hrs.
Today, another Big Day! To cross the high Tsho-la pass ( Chola) after an early breakfast following the path leading to a steep up and then crossing the glacier on the eastern side. The top of the pass at an altitude of 5,367m and sometimes it will be quite challenging to traverse (in snow conditions), from the top it offers awesome views of giant mountains and of Cholatse Glacier then making descend carefully to a small lake on the way to Dzongla for overnight stop after a hard day walk.
Day 12:           Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs.
Today’s walk to Lobuche will be much easier after the hard previous day, morning leaving Dzongla following the path that descends to yak herder's summer pastures. Then the walk climbs up to terminal debris of Khumbu Glacier, and continues on the pleasant gradual path all the way to Lobuche for overnight stay,
Lobuche a small hidden settlement with about 10 lodges and teahouses.
Day 13:          Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m, Everest Base Camp 5, 364 m - 06 hrs.
The trail today is quite hard due to altitude gain with tremendous views of
Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse and Mt. Everest world’s highest peak at 8,848 meters / 29,028 ft. After few hours of strenuous and scenic walk reaching at Gorakshep through moraine and icy path, Gorakshep houses 4 lodges, this place with the last lodge before Everest Base Camp, after a break here our journey continue to Everest Base Camp walking along then moraine with view of Khumbu Icefall and then reaching at Everest Base Camp our goal and destination of this adventurous memorable trek. After spending some time at the base camp, return journey back to Gorakshep for the overnight stop after fulfilling the high light of this trip.
Day 14:          Hike to Kalapatthar 5,545 m trek to Lobuche - 04 hrs.
Morning climb with a steep uphill to Kalapatthar for the most fantastic view of
Mt. Everest with other surroundings peaks all the way to south eastern horizon. Kalapatthar at 5,545 m the scenic view top for entire south face of Mt. Everest and other high snow capped peaks, after a memorable moment here and the highest point of this awesome trek, spending some time here a steep downhill back to Gorakshep and continue the journey all the way to Lobuche for lunch and overnight stop, afternoon at leisure rest and preparation for the last high pass of this awesome adventure..
Day 15:          Cross Kongma La 5,535 m to Dingboche 4, 330m - 08 hrs.
Today the last Big Day! crossing Kongma La, starting very early before the break of dawn, the walk leads to the Khumbu glacier and moraine one has to be careful here on the misleading icy path, from here onwards walking on rocky trail beneath Kongma-la and its peak Kongma or Mehra, after a good rest traverse the Kongma-la pass at 5,535 m / 18,159 ft enclosed between the great Nuptse wall, Mehara and Pokalde peaks, after descending the walk leads on the path to Imjatse wide valley with tremendous scenery of Island peak, Ama Dablam and other surrounding peaks. On reaching at Bibre at Imjatse valley a few hours of pleasant walk brings to Dingboche village with about 20 fine lodges, after a hard day walk retire in one of the fine and cozy lodge for overnight at Dingboche.
Day 16:          Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m - 05 hrs.
Leaving Dingboche with super views of Ama Dablam, Nuptse wall, Lhotse, then heading on the downhill path and back to lower altitude and tree lines, the walk leads past Pangboche and from the bridge an hour or more climb brings you back to the famed Thyangboche Monastery with amazing surrounding scenery.
Day 17:          Trek to Monjo 2,880 m through Namche Bazaar - 06hrs.
Morning walk begins with a descend to Imjatse River at Phunge tenga, here after crossing the bridge a steep uphill for an hour then with gentle winding walk all the way to Namche Bazaar, ( for energetic people can use the route to Namche visiting Everest View Hotel or Khumjung and Khunde village) from Namche on the downhill path to Dudh Kosi River bank, from here with short ups and downs to reach the Sagarmatha National Park entrance and then Monjo village for overnight stop in this quaint nice village.

Day 18:          Trek to Lukla - 05 hrs.
After a memorable trip to Everest base camp, today the last day walk of this fascinating journey, from here retrace the trail back to Lukla on the gradual winding trail passing Phakding and Ghat village then with the last uphill climb to Lukla for lunch and overnight stop, evening time enjoy the last meal with fellow trekkers, staffs and porters.
Day 19:          Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
From Lukla the flight starts early morning to Kathmandu, sometime the flight time can get delayed due to bad weather, as per the flight time board in the small plane for a super, scenic flight back to Kathmandu, on reaching at Katmandu domestic terminal our guide and staff transfer you back to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu in and around Thamel area.
Day 20:          In Kathmandu with cultural tour at places of interest.
This day reserved a free day in case of flight delay in Lukla due to bad weather conditions, and one can join for sightseeing tour at leisure, depart hotel for few hours in our interesting cultural tour of heritage sites as Kathmandu valley is full of world heritage sites, however some of them been damaged from recent earthquake.
The  tour of holy Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath ( Little Tibet), Swayambhunath ( Monkey Temple) & monasteries, ancient Kings Palaces and courtyard in Kathmandu; after an interesting sightseeing back to the hotel, afternoon free at leisure for individual activities.
Day 21:          International departure for home ward bound.
After a great memorable time and experience with Solukhumbu Treks & Expedition, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
